Notice of Federal Project of Federal ProjectNotice of Federal Project<p>Burke County has received a Community Development Block Grants totaling $2,000,000 to install 32,130 feet of 8" water lines associated valves and hydrants to resovle failing wells and connect 30 households to the new system.     This will require utility construction consisting of equipment operators, truck drivers, laborers, plumbers and supervision.  Supplies shall consist of water main piping with and water tap connections, hydrants, valves, fittings, seeding, grassing, and asphalt paving with all related appurtenances.</p><p>Interested parties that wish to register for consideration of jobs and contracts may contact Erin Schotte, Project Administrator, for Burke County,  828.322.9191 x240 or Leah Martin 828.322.9191 x485. Burke County Fair Housing Complaint Procedure County Fair Housing Complaint ProcedureBurke County Fair Housing Complaint Procedure<p>​Housing discrimination is prohibited by Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 (Fair Housing Act) and the North Carolina Fair Housing Act. In an effort to promote fair housing and that the rights of housing discrimination victims are protected, Burke County<strong> </strong>has adopted the following procedures for receiving housing discrimination complaints:</p><ol><li>Any person or persons wishing to file a complaint of housing discrimination in the county may do so by informing the<strong> </strong>county manager of the facts and circumstance of the alleged discriminatory acts or practice.</li><li>Upon receiving a housing discrimination complaint, the county manager shall acknowledge the complaint within <span style="text-decoration:underline;"><em>15 days in writing</em></span> and   inform the Division of Water Infrastructure and the North Carolina Human Relations Commission about the complaint. </li><li>The county manager shall offer assistance to the Commission in the investigation and reconciliation of all housing discrimination complaints which are based on events occurring in the Burke County. </li><li>The County Administrator shall publicize in the local newspaper, with the TDD#, who is the local agency to contact with housing discrimination complaints.</li></ol>
