Florence Updatehttp://www.burkenc.org/departments/information-technology/Florence UpdateFlorence Update
Florence has weakened to a tropical depression as it moves west. We are expecting flash flooding and significant river flooding with an additional 3-6 inches of rain likely. Winds gusts could reach 45 mph. Power outages are expected to increase. As of 3:00 pm, 415,000 customers in the Carolinas are without power.

The good news – the rainfall forecast has been downgraded to 4-6 inches from the original 10+ inches this area was anticipating. While that is improved news, it doesn’t eliminate the possibility of spilling along the river system. Please stay alert to changing conditions, as significant rainfall and inflows will lead to even higher lake levels.
