They are caused by water seeping into cracks in the road and ice forming. Those cracks widen, causing the asphalt to rise while traffic loosens the pavement eventually creating a hole in the road. Maintenance crews in Division 13 will make additional permanent pothole repairs once warmer weather patterns exist.<br><br>You can help expedite repairs by letting us know where potholes are located by visiting NCDOT's website. </p>

Medicare Open Enrollment is taking place now through Dec 7thhttp://www.burkenc.org/departments/county-manager/Medicare Open Enrollment is taking place now through Dec 7thMedicare Open Enrollment is taking place now through Dec 7th<p>Medicare Open Enrollment is taking place now through December 7<sup><font size="2">th</font></sup>.  The Medicare Prescription coverage annual election period provides current Medicare beneficiaries with this one opportunity each year to select a new prescription drug plan that best suits their medication needs for the upcoming year.</p><p>The NC Seniors Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) is a Division of the NC Department of Insurance and offers free, unbiased information about Medicare and Medicare cost savings programs.  The Burke County Senior Centers in Morganton and Hildebran serve as SHIIP counseling sites.   </p><p>Due to an increase in Medicare beneficiary requests, Burke County has scheduled over 300 SHIIP counseling appointments. The facility is located at 2500 Marsh Trail Road, Morgantown, NC 28655. This project includes installation of gas collection system piping, fittings, and valves with associated trenching and backfilling, conversion of existing gas vents to active gas wells, installation and startup of gas extraction unit skid station, gravel pad construction, installation of condensate collection trap and tank, utilities coordination and connection, and site restoration/revegetation in disturbed areas.</p>
