Due to extremely dry conditions and rugged terrain, the fire has grown significantly and is currently estimated to be 1961 acres.</p>

The Burke County Fire Marshal’s Office expands the ban to inside the 100 foot boundary surrounding an occupied dwelling effective at 8 AM today. The expanded ban does exclude cooking fires in an outdoor grill or smoker. Violators could face civil penalties and liabilities from the NC Forest Service.</font></p>
