Economic Development Incentives - Notice of Public Hearing<div class="ExternalClassA9B639A598A3429A8890B8A0F566DA98"><div style="text-align:center;"><strong>NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING</strong></div><div style="text-align:center;"><strong>ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INCENTIVES</strong></div><div style="text-align:center;"><strong>PROJECT HUSKY</strong></div><div style="text-align:center;"><strong>PROJECT NW</strong></div><div style="text-align:center;"><strong>FEBRUARY 19, 2019 – 6:00 P.M.</strong></div> <br>Notice is hereby given that the Burke County Board of Commissioners will hold public hearings at 6:00 p.m. (or as soon thereafter as persons may be heard) on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, in the County Board Room, Burke County Services Building, 110 North Green Street, Entrance E, in Morganton, NC for the purpose of giving consideration to and approving the expenditure of public funds to assist with the location of:<br> <br><strong>(1) Project Husky in Burke County (Hildebran)</strong> - A $500,000 Building Reuse grant application is being submitted to the State by the County. Burke County and the Town of Hildebran will provide the five (5) percent local match of $12,500 each or $25,000 total. The Company will create at least 50 new jobs by the end of 2020, approximately 230 new jobs over five (5) years and invest approximately $12.5 million in new additional tax base. The jobs will meet or exceed the average county wage and will include healthcare benefits. Also, BDI proposes a grant equivalent to 70% of the property taxes paid on the new tax base generated for a period of seven (7) years.<br> <br><strong>(2) Project NW in Burke County (Hildebran) </strong>- A $312,000 Building Reuse Grant will be submitted to the State by the County which requires a local match of $15,625 or $7,812.50 from the County and Hildebran. At least 25 new jobs will be created. <br> <br>The Board of Commissioners and Hildebran Town Council believe the projects will stimulate economic activity, will result in the creation of new jobs, help stabilize and increase the tax base and create additional revenues in both entities.
