The Register of Deeds serves as the custodian and manager for real estate related documents as well as the vital records of the county. The Register of Deeds is legally responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and safekeeping of these public records.
The Register of Deeds office provides numerous services to the legal community and the public. We record deeds, deeds of trust, powers of attorney, assumed names, military records, plats and maps, and other miscellaneous documents related to real property.
In addition, the office also maintains the records of all notary public commissions; issue marriage licenses and certified copies of birth and death certificates.
We use the most current technology to ensure easy access and retrieval of all our records and provide a courteous and professional environment.
The Burke County Register of Deeds staff is composed of the Register of Deeds, 2 Assistant Register of Deeds and 3 Deputy Register of Deeds.
The Register of Deeds is an elected official who serves four-year terms in office.
