Animal Services

We are a county operated shelter, whose function is to take in stray animals from Burke County. We aim to reunite those animals with their owners, or adopt out unclaimed animals. We also educate pet owners on spay/neuter to reduce pet overpopulation.

Board of Commissioners

Burke County is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, elected at large to serve four-year terms.

The Burke County Code Enforcement Division is dedicated to working in cooperation with county officials, property owners and citizens to preserve the beauty and value of property and lands within Burke County as well as promoting the safety, health and general well being of all citizens and visitors of the county.

Community Development

The purpose of the Burke County Community Development Department is to provide staff support and technical assistance to the County Manager, Burke County Board of Commissioners, Planning Board, Technical Review Committee, and the Zoning Board of Adjustment.

The County Manager serves as Chief Executive Officer of Burke County government, appointed by and serving at the pleasure of the Board of County Commissioners.

Emergency Communications - 911

The mission of the Burke County Emergency Communications Center (BCECC) is to serve the community and local government agencies with effective emergency communications services.

Emergency Management

The Division of Emergency Management is responsible for the governmental function that coordinates and integrates all activities to build, sustain and improve the capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from or mitigate against threatened or actual natural disasters, acts of terrorism or other manmade disasters.

Emergency Medical Services

Our mission is to provide effective leadership and coordination in a comprehensive all hazards approach to natural and man made disasters impacting Burke County.

Environmental Health

Finance

The Finance department manages cash and investments, fixed assets, grants and procurement of goods and services for all Burke County departments.

Fire Marshal

The Fire Marshal’s Office works to support fire and life safety for the citizens, businesses and visitors of Burke County.

Foothills Conference Center

The Conference Center offers a total of 14,710 square feet of space with room capacity of 700 people along with a kitchen for catering.
