Burke County Reports Twenty-fifth Death

Morganton, NC: Burke County Public Health was notified today of the twenty-fifth COVID-19 associated death in Burke County. The individual in their 70’s was hospitalized and died from underlying medical conditions. To protect the family’s privacy, no further information about the patients will be released.

“We are so sorry to report another COVID associated death and send our sincere condolences to the family and friends of this individual”, said Burke County Health Director Rebecca McLeod. These deaths continue to be a stark reminder that we all have to work together to protect the health and well-being of all residents within our county. As this virus continues to spread within our community, we continue to encourage people to routinely practice the 3 W’s to reduce the spread of this infection.” Wear, a cloth face covering when out in public and cannot physically distance yourself from others, Wait at least six feet away from others and Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use hand sanitizer if you do not have access to soap and water. It is also imperative for those testing positive to STAY AT HOME until your isolation time has been completed or if you are sick to STAY AT HOME until you are symptom free.
