BURKE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INCENTIVE
JANUARY 19, 2021 – 6:00 P.M.
Notice is hereby given that the Burke County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing at 6:00 p.m. (or as soon thereafter as persons may be heard) on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, in the County Board Room, Burke County Services Building, 110 North Green Street, Entrance E, Morganton, NC to consider an economic development incentive package for Project Glides. Burke County is applying for a $500,000 Building Reuse grant which requires a $25,000 local match. Burke County and the City of Morganton are responsible for providing half of the local grant match, or $12,500 each. The assistance also includes a local economic development grant equal to 50% of the new taxable investment paid by the company for a period of five (5) years approximately ($34,750 per year beginning in FY 2023-24) and the sale of real property (20 acres) located at 115 Wamsutta Mill Road with a fair market value of $1,724,311. The Board of Commissioners believe the project will stimulate economic activity, will result in the creation of approximately 80 new jobs, help stabilize and increase the tax base and create additional revenues in the County.
