Burke County’s Response to COVID-19

• Burke County is currently at 9655 positive cases. These are cumulative cases for the county. If you want to see a breakdown of the cases, please go visit the https://www.burkenc.org/dashboard webpage

• Para español llame al 764-9150 y presione el número dos. Si nadie contesta deje un corto mensaje con su nombre y numero de teléfono.

Starting this week, the media briefings will only be distributed twice a week on Mondays and Fridays unless there is a rise in cases that warrants moving back to daily briefings.

Those eligible for vaccination are: adults (16-64 years old) at high risk for exposure and increased risk of severe illness, people experiencing homelessness, and those incarcerated are currently being vaccinated so if you haven’t scheduled your appointment you can do so on the community call center line at 828-358-4454 or online at www.chsbr.org/vaccine

The rest of Group 4, which includes other essential workers and other people in close group living settings will become eligible April 7th. You can check the priority Group 4 definitions located on the Burke County COVID-19 webpage at www.burkenc.org/COVID-19

Even though you receive the COVID-19 vaccine, you will still need to practice the 3 W’s prevention for a while until more people receive the vaccine.

We appreciate your patience as we try to vaccinate those eligible and interested as fast as possible.
