The increase in cases during this week is primarily from cleaning up data from the NC Electronic Disease Surveillance System. These are not from any current spike in newly diagnosed cases.
We are encouraging anyone 16 and over to take the COVID vaccine to help reduce the spread of the COVID virus within our community as we move forward.
If you are interested in getting a COVID-19 vaccination this week, you can go to www.myspot.nc.gov and find locations within Burke and surrounding counties to schedule your appointment. If you have trouble with scheduling or you do not have access to a computer, please contact the Burke County Health Department at 828-764-9150 and dial “0” to speak with the operator and they will assist you.
Even though you receive the COVID-19 vaccine, you will still need to practice the 3 W’s prevention for a while until more people receive the vaccine.
To find out more information about how to schedule your vaccine appointment, please visit the Burke County COVID-19 webpage at www.burkenc.org/COVID-19
