PUBLIC NOTICE
Since the original adoption of the Blueprint Burke Strategic Land Use Plan in 2016, the North Carolina State Legislature undertook a major overhaul of the state’s zoning laws which included new consolidated zoning rules. A component of these changes is that Burke County’s comprehensive land use plan needs to be updated. The updates are focused on the following three things: more recent background information for Burke County regarding employment, housing, and population; updating the future land use map that provides a recommendation for zoning map amendments; strategies for land uses and economic growth.
The initial step in the approval process is for the Burke County Planning Board to review and approved the proposed changes to the plan and map. That meeting will be held on September 22, 2022, at 5:30pm. The meeting will take place in the Board of Commissioners Meeting Room (Door E) located at 110 N. Green St. Morganton, NC 28655.
In accordance with ADA regulations, persons in need of an accommodation to participate in the meeting should call the Burke County Community Development at (828-764-9033) at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to the meeting.
